"Dawn" by W. T. Horton -- a coffee mug

$11.99

“Dawn” is a somewhat mystical drawing by English artist W. T. Horton. It was published ten years after Horton’s death by his friend Roger Ingpen.

The work of W. T. Horton is often compared to that of Aubrey Beardsley. Coincidentally, they both attended the same grammar school in Brighton, and when the two met, Beardsley had encouraging words for Horton.

Horton’s drawings have been described as direct, clear, powerful, and original – they are quite minimalist. The artist believed his work was inspired by occult influences.

He seems to have been somewhat of a loner and was a friend of fellow mystic W. B. Yeats, who sponsored his initiation into Golden Dawn occult society in 1896.
